Unigen Launches Attenutin™ and Symetrian™ for Respiratory & Immune Health
Tacoma, WA – February 24, 2022 – Unigen Inc. will introduce two new botanical ingredients at this year’s Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim. The new ingredients in Unigen’s botanical suite are Attenutin™ for respiratory health, and Symetrian™ for immune homeostasis.
“We are very excited to expand our profile at this time with these two ingredients,” said Dr. Qi Jia, Unigen CEO and CSO. “Since early 2020, Unigen shifted its R&D focus to immune and respiratory health. We evaluated hundreds of bioflavonoids in our PhytoLogix® library and historic data on maintaining a healthy level of an alarmin protein called HMGB1 that is proven to support and protect the immune function of the respiratory system.” The final composition called Attenutin contains two different types of bioflavonoids clinically proven to support innate and adaptive immunity while supporting antibody IgA & IgG productions and a healthy level of cytokines. Derived from roots of Scutellaria baicalensis and heartwood of Acacia catechu, Attenutin has been clinically proven to increase the levels of glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), highlighting its strong antioxidant activity. Attenutin is suitable for short term usage such as with Vitamin C and Zinc during immune-stressing seasons.
Unigen also tested many immune regulatory polysaccharides in combinations with different polyphenols that led to successful clinical trials of an Aloe polysaccharide-based composition called Symetrian. Symetrian is a standardized, aloe-based composition for healthy immune homeostasis. It is clinically proven to promote production of circulating TCRγδ+ Gamma delta T cells, suggesting its heightened immune surveillance at portals of entry. Derived from Aloe vera leaf gel powder, Poria cocos sclerotium extract, and rosemary leaf extracts, Symetrian has been clinically shown to increase anti-oxidation capacity through elevated levels of glutathione peroxidase. In the second clinical trial of rapid immune modulation, a single oral dose showed progressive activation of lymphocytes (NKT cells, NK cells; cytotoxic T cells, γδ-T cells) over a three-hour period in the blood where the percent changes in activation were found statistically significant against placebo. Symetrian is suitable as a long-term dietary supplement year-round for all populations.
